If you were going to devote almost a half sleeve (of tattoos that is) to Tom Robbins' novels, mainly--but not necessarily exclusively--Skinny Legs and All, how would you do it?

I already have the big purple Salome from the cover, and it takes up almost all of my upper right arm, so anything else I add is going to be a bit hard to place. If I could, I'd add a ton of imagery to depict Salome's dance at the end of the book. Buuut there isn't a whole lot of imagery to convey those revelations. I do want a cosmic looking background to fill in all the space, but if I'm doing my whole upper arm, I need at least a couple more images. I'm open to any suggestions, even those not directly from the book itself, or from other books. Overall the color scheme's probably going to be purple, grey, and light blue, and the feel is going to be very cosmic.

I know that's a weird set of questions, but if anyone's got some cool ideas, I'd love to hear them! This is a tough task.

Hi, guys!

I have been a fan of Tom's since I first picked up "Still Life with Woodpecker" in 1981 (geeeze... am I that old??) In every book there is something that I add to my philosophy of life. I also tend to laugh myself silly throughout. I've tried and tried to come up with a favorite, but I can't. There's an aspect of each work that speaks to me.

See ya around!

Hi! New member here.

Been reading Robbins for a long time.

My favorite Robbins IRL stories are watching him rip an interviewer to shreds when she tried to analyze him and hearing that he stays in bed until he hears "23" said on the radio.

Hello, new member here.

My name is Marissa and I've been reading Tom Robbins for about a year now, ever since a friend handed me a slip of paper with "Skinny Legs & All - Tom Robbins" on it, and I've read everything but Even Cowgirls get the Blues, which I'm on now.

I've got an open question I'm hoping someone can answer for me.
This may be a bit hard to understand, but..
I was in a line the other day and I seemed to remember reading a bit that went something along the lines of how we make lines to stand in because we can't take .. not standing in lines and so on..

I'm realize it's pretty vague, but I was wondering if anyone remembered this?

hello, je m'appelle rachel, and i just got into tom robbins this past summer. unbeknownst to me, however, several of his books have been lying around my house for years. i just overlooked them.

my favorite book so far is probably either another roadside attraction jitterbug perfume or villa incognito.

i just bought ducks yesterday, and am curious to see how it is. even though i know it is going to be stellar.

nice to meet all of yous.

PS - is it just me or does it not matter even a little bit how old mr. robbins is? i'd do him in a hearbeat. probably less.

A friend of mine altered The Star card from the Thoth deck to make NOMMO from Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas.  I love it :)

Out of curiosity, do any of you have any Tom Robbins themed tattoos?? I'm getting the Jitterbug Perfume bottle tattooed on Tuesday, and I'm curious to see anyone else's tattoos, if they exist, which I'm sure they must!

Just introducing myself.

I'm Bo. My mother owned most of Tom Robbins' books, and I read them at too young an age (some would say) during my attempts to read everything in the house that could be read. I got hooked after reading 'Another Roadside Attraction', and I've been a fan ever since.

I recently got to meet Mr. Robbins when he did a book reading/signing for 'Wild Ducks Flying Backwards' at the Booksmith in San Francisco. It was fantastic. He sucked on a lemon wedge during the talk, and afterwards I told him about my early exposure to his books. He smirked and said, "Did a little brian damage, did we?", and I left feeling quite happy that he understood his influence on my life.

I recommend Robbins' books to nearly everyone who asks what I think they should read. Mostly, I recommened 'Jitterbug Perfume', because to me that seems like a good starting place. I mostly arrived at that choice at random.

That's all. Hello.
